The Joys of Winter Bike Riding.

But Not for Me

I am too much of a wuss

I had to share this.

I love to ride my bike.  One big reason is the benefits of exercise for diabetics.   It’s a big must for keeping the glucose under control.

It’s also fun.  Riding can be an exercise in pure, youthful joy. Once I found the type of bike that fit me best, the fun I had as kid riding  renewed as an adult.

The spills, though, hurt a bit more than when I was kid.  I don’t bounce as well as I used to.  Gotta take the good with the bad, I guess.

As I have long admitted,  I am a  wuss when it comes to cold weather.  I don’t like it and riding in the cold weather is an exercise of furious pedaling to get and stay warm.  That’s good example of an aerobic exercise, but I wimp out and just put the bike on the trainer in the garage.  Yeah it’s cold in the garage, but not as much.

Maybe someday I will get over it, but for now, the benefits of exercise I get from riding my bike will be on the trainer when the temps drop.

With my cold weather cowardice in mind, I want to share this, a bunch of guys to embrace the cold and snow and keep on riding.

They are having fun, a real slippery blast of a ride.  Dangers be damned.

I wish I had their moxie.  I don’t.

Maybe next year.  Or not.
